WEEK 9

Autodesk Maya

This week in Maya, my focus was on planning a body mechanics shot. Drawing inspiration from extensive references on YouTube, I envisioned a dynamic shot involving a big jump. To challenge myself, I embarked on a multi-step process, beginning with the creation of 2D plans for the body mechanics shot.

These detailed shot plans served as a foundation for translating my vision into the 3D space. Through careful consideration of pacing and movement, I seamlessly transitioned from the 2D plans to a preliminary 3D blockout. This iterative process allowed me to refine the shot’s dynamics and overall composition, ensuring that my animation captures the energy and fluidity required for a compelling body mechanics sequence. As I progress, I aim to further polish and refine the animation, bringing my envisioned parkour shot to life within the Maya environment.

Unreal Engine

In this session with Serra, we delved into the fundamental aspects of rendering, a crucial element in obtaining the desired outputs for our shots in Unreal Engine. Serra elucidated on the various methods available for rendering within the engine, presenting us with a choice between speed and quality.

She delineated a faster method that sacrificed some quality and a slower alternative that promised higher-quality renders. Each method came with its own set of advantages and drawbacks.
