2. Moodboard and Inspirations

Every great animation begins with a vision, and for my final project, the moodboard became an essential tool to shape the visual tone of my short film. From the very beginning, I knew I wanted the world of my story to feel spooky yet whimsical, balancing a playful Halloween-inspired atmosphere with a surreal, cartoonish edge.

My primary inspiration came from iconic films like The Nightmare Before Christmas and classic Disney movies. Tim Burton’s work, in particular, influenced the slightly eerie and offbeat aesthetic I envisioned. I wanted to create a nighttime world filled with strange, unexpected colors—a setting that feels spooky yet vibrant.

On my moodboard, I combined images that capture this unusual palette: a deep violet moon glowing in the sky, bright orange grass sprawling across the land, and tall, twisted red trees dotting the horizon. These contrasting colors reflect the quirky, otherworldly vibe I’m aiming for.

The moodboard not only helped me clarify my vision but also provided a solid foundation for the design choices I’ll make moving forward. With this unique blend of influences and colors, I’m excited to bring this unconventional world to life.
