5. Environment – Groecery Store

For this stage of my 3D animation project, I shifted focus to modeling the interior of the grocery store, one of the key locations in the story. The goal was to create a bright, surreal space that balances the ordinary with an eerie, otherworldly vibe.

I started by designing the aisles, filling them with various objects such as cereal boxes, bottles, and other items you’d expect to find in a supermarket. For this purpose, I downloaded some real labels of products to attach to the objects. This gave the store a sense of realism and texture while maintaining the quirky, cartoonish tone of the animation.

Next, I modeled the general structure of the store, including the walls and floor. The layout is simple and functional but stylized to fit the low-poly aesthetic I’m aiming for. Lighting played a crucial role in defining the mood of the space. I added numerous lights to make the interior appear super bright, as supermarkets typically are, but with a twist—I used slightly blue lights to give the scene a surreal, spooky edge that ties into the theme of the project.

To complete the scene, I modeled a shopping cart, which will be used by the monster character during the animation. This small detail adds functionality to the environment and anchors it in the story.

Overall, designing the grocery store interior was a fascinating process that allowed me to explore how lighting and small details can transform an ordinary setting into something unique and atmospheric.
